JANE EVANS : GYOTAKU ARTIST

Jane grew up on the Wirral before moving to Manchester in her late teens.  She didn't start her art career until she was in her 40's after attending Manchester School of Art where she gained her degree.
Her practice was focused on Oil and Water colour. Then in 2017 she discovered Gyotaku and has been using the technique ever since.

In 2013 Jane moved to the island of Anglesey off the North West Coast of Wales.  Her studio looks out across the Menai Strait to the mountains of Eryri.  From here she creates her prints. She sources many of her marine specimens from local fishermen and gathers shells and botanical specimens on her walks locally.

She has exhibited locally and nationally and been included in the Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition for the last two years.

In 2023 she was accepted as a member of Art Gyotaku Europe and also a member of the Nature Printing Society.
