6 x 6 Inch Anchovy Triptych – Linotaku Marine Wall Art
Size: Three prints, each 6 x 6 inches (approx. 15 x 15 cm)
Paper: Handmade Thai Mulberry
Edges: Hand-torn
Medium: Yellow, red, and orange acrylic ink
This anchovy triptych is created using hand-carved lino blocks printed across three individual 6 x 6 inch sheets of handmade Thai mulberry paper. The work combines relief printing with the direct printing approach of Gyotaku, a process I refer to as Linotaku.
Printed in layers of yellow, red, and orange acrylic ink, the composition is designed to be displayed as a triptych. When arranged together, the three panels create a flowing sense of movement, suggesting a small shoal of anchovies moving through the water.
The natural fibres of the handmade Thai mulberry paper introduce warmth and subtle texture, enhancing the colour and character of the ink while softening the printed forms. Each sheet is individually hand-printed and hand-torn, meaning every set carries its own subtle variations.
Designed to be float mounted with small spaces between the panels, the deckled edges remain visible, creating a clean and contemporary presentation.
Part of my ongoing series of small-format marine prints, this work continues an exploration of coastal subjects through simple materials, layered colour, and direct printmaking methods.
