This handmade Dover Sole print focuses on the beautiful textures and shapes found in a fragment of this elegant flatfish. Rather than depicting the full fish, this piece draws attention to the surface patterns and flowing contours that define its form. Printed in rich black acrylic ink, the artwork reveals subtle tonal variations that interact beautifully with the natural fibres of the Thai mulberry paper.

Each print is created using a careful, hand-pulled process, ensuring that every impression is unique. The hand-torn edges are intended to be float mounted, allowing the organic edge to remain visible and adding a refined, contemporary finish.

Part of my mini series of Gyotaku-inspired coastal wall art prints, this work continues my exploration of traditional printing techniques reimagined through a modern lens. By focusing on fragments rather than full forms, these prints celebrate the abstract beauty of marine life — inviting a closer look at texture, detail, and rhythm.
