Blue Prawn Duo Gyotaku

A beautiful original Gyotaku print featuring two prawns, hand printed in vibrant bright blue ink onto handmade Thai Mulberry paper.

The two prawns are captured in rich, vivid blue, highlighting their delicate bodies, fine legs and distinctive forms. Placed together, the pair creates a lovely sense of movement and balance, while the bold blue ink gives this traditional Japanese-inspired printing technique a fresh and contemporary feel.

Printed onto handmade Thai Mulberry paper, the natural fibres and softly textured surface add depth and character to the artwork. The paper beautifully absorbs the ink, allowing the intricate details of the prawns to emerge while retaining the organic qualities of the original hand print.

The finished artwork is carefully mounted using the traditional Japanese Urauchi method. The delicate Mulberry paper is backed with another sheet using wheat paste, helping to strengthen and flatten the artwork while preserving the character and texture of the handmade paper.

Measuring A5, this charming duo makes a lovely smaller piece of original marine artwork, equally suited to displaying on its own or alongside other Gyotaku prints.
