Gyotaku Impression Taken from Octopus Vulgaris
Gyotaku Impression Taken from Octopus Vulgaris
This print measures approx 90x80cm and is the largest octopus I've ever printed. The print is on Chinese Mulberry paper and then a backing is applied of Japanese Masa Paper to flatten and strengthen the print for framing.
Gyotaku process sees ink applied to the surface of the specimen and then paper is pressed onto the surface making an impression. Each time an impression is taken, the specimen has fresh ink applied and the pressing is done gently by hand. This means that no two pressings will ever be the same so you are always guaranteed a completely unique piece of art.
Octopus are incredible animals and I always feel it's a privilege to have one to work with. I take great care of my specimens and print them as many times as I can, I really don't want to see them go to waste.
The print will be sent with courier service, rolled in a tube. Shipping to the UK is free
