Jelly fish wash up on the shores around the island. My friend who has a house down on the shore line sometimes finds herself picking her way through the jellies that wash ashore. She scooped a few up and gave me a call. We put them in a bucket of sea water and waited to see what happened. Some of them started to move again but there was one that just wasn't moving. We released the ones that had started to move back into the sea as the tide was going out. The one that wasn't moving, I brought back to my studio.
This was not an easy subject I can tell you. I had to find a way of 'drying' it without breaking it. Eventually I managed to get it inked up and took a few prints. The tentacles don't really print so I hand painted them in after.
