Hand finished Mussel Shell Gyotaku Print, Wet Mounted
This print was made used local mussel shells from the Menai Strait. These little bivaves are amazing for the sea, acting as filters and creating a great environment for biodiversity.
With their very faint ribbing in the shell and the curved shape, they are very difficult to print from. These have been finished by hand using a quality coloured art pencil.
This print is on Thai Mulberry paper measuring approx 50x34cm and has been mounted using the authentic Japanese wet mounting technique which uses a simple flour and water paste and requires a period of around 24 hours to dry and stretch.
After stretching it for the first time, I've then hand drawn onto this print. It was then wet mounted a second time.
The print is supplied unframed and without mount boards. It will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper and sent in a poster tube ready for framing and mounting. It also comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Shipping to the UK is free and is calculated at checkout for all other territories. Please feel free to message me directly if you'd like to get a quote for a framed print.
