John Dory & Juvenile – Gyotaku Print Framed

This A3 Gyotaku print features both an adult John Dory and a juvenile specimen, the smaller of which was a gifted scientific sample. Printed using lightfast, permanent blue and gold acrylic inks on Chinese Xuan paper, the composition offers a contemporary interpretation of the Gyotaku tradition — balancing scientific observation with expressive colour and modern presentation.

The initial print is wet mounted and reinforced with two layers of acid-free Japanese Masa paper for archival stability. The hand-torn edges enhance the tactile quality of the piece, allowing it to be displayed float-mounted or trimmed and framed traditionally.  The print is offered framed in an Oak Foil Box Frame and is float mounted.  

Finished with my personal hanko stamp, each piece is a unique original — not reproduced.
