This striking two-panel gyotaku print captures a unique moment from a walk along Lleiniog Beach, telling a story through texture, contrast, and composition. One panel showcases organic finds—seaweed, shells, feathers—rendered in a rich blue and gold palette that evokes the beauty and fragility of the coastal environment. The second panel, in stark black, presents man-made debris collected on the same walk, a haunting counterpoint that speaks to the impact of human presence. Each panel, approximately 70 x 34.5 cm, has been printed and then flattened and strengthened using the traditional wet mounting technique. Created in my garden studio, this piece uses only light fast, permanent inks to ensure lasting vibrancy. Like all my gyotaku prints, it’s a one-of-a-kind artwork made directly from the found objects themselves, preserving their shapes and stories with honesty and care. This print invites quiet reflection on our relationship with nature—and what we choose to leave behind.
