Anchovy Linocut – Dark & Light Blue

A striking hand-printed linocut celebrating the delicate form and character of the anchovy, printed in contrasting shades of dark and light blue.

The anchovy design has been carefully hand-carved into a lino block and individually printed by hand. Each print is made with care, allowing for the subtle variations that make handmade printmaking so special. No two prints are ever quite the same.

The artwork is printed onto beautiful handmade Thai Mulberry paper, chosen for its natural texture, visible fibres and lovely tactile quality. The combination of the deep and lighter blue inks brings out the fine details and elegant shape of the anchovy, creating a simple yet distinctive piece of contemporary marine artwork.

The finished print is backed using the traditional Japanese Urauchi method. This involves carefully adhering the delicate printed paper to a supporting sheet using wheat paste, strengthening and flattening the artwork while retaining the beautiful character of the handmade paper.

Each piece is individually hand printed and finished by Jane Evans, making it a unique work of art rather than a mass-produced reproduction.
