Gosh that's quite a title! However this is what it is. I am sometimes frustrated working with small fish that they are so fragile, it makes them very hard to make a Gyotaku with multiple fish on. I'm also just keen to keep expanding my practice and I like the idea of making these lino cuts at the same size of the real fish and then working with them in exactly the same way I would in Gyotaku. So as with the Gyotaku, the fish lino cut is inked up and then the paper is lifted over and the impression taken. Each fish on this print has been done individually from the a few lino cut fish I've made. After the printing is done the eyes were hand painted on. Finally it was wet mounted as with all my Gyotaku work.
All my prints are unique as the fish are printed by hand and placed individually. A certificate is provide with each unique artwork. I've used a high quality blue and gold acrylic ink for this print that is both light fast and permanent. It's A3 in size and printed on hand made Thai Mulberry Paper. It was then wet mounted to a second sheet of Thai Mulberry Paper. It comes float mounted in this oak foil frame with museum quality acrylic glazing and is ready to hang. External frame width is 36cm and height is 49cm.
