This A3 gyotaku print captures the intricate linear forms of Himanthalia elongata, commonly known as sea spaghetti. The specimen was gathered from the beach at Aberffraw, Anglesey — a regular dog walk for our family. Printed using traditional art grade sumi on handmade Thai Mulberry paper, the work focuses on the natural flow and surface textures of this distinctive seaweed.
The piece has been wet mounted for stability and longevity, backed with two layers of acid-free Japanese Masa paper. The hand-torn edges enhance the tactile presence of the work, allowing it to be displayed float-mounted or beneath a traditional frame.
Each print is a unique, original impression — made by hand and never reproduced.
Part of an ongoing exploration of coastal specimens and process-led printmaking. Shipping within the UK is free, and the work is supplied rolled in a protective tube.
