This print was made using a piece of sugar kelp collected during an exceptionally low tide on the Menai Strait, Anglesey. A marine biologist from Bangor’s School of Ocean Sciences helped me identify the right location and timing to gather it — as sugar kelp grows further out and is only accessible at the lowest tides.
This was actually made as a test print for two larger pieces which are now hanging in a beautiful restaurant called Vraic on the Island of Gurnesey. I'd never worked with such a large, floppy specimen before so wanted to be sure I could lift a print and then flatten the piece after printing. This piece is not perfect and an unusual size. It measures 27cm wide by 114cm tall approximately.
All prints are original — not reproduced. Shipping is free within the UK, and you're welcome to contact me directly with any questions.
