Painting

Before I discovered Gyotaku, my work was painting.  I've used both watercolour and oils over the years and looked at a diverse range of subjects.  In addition I've completed some portrait commissions. 

I don't really think of myself as a portrait artist, more of a figurative artist.  I'm really interested in our relationship with the photograph, which seems to become more complex as technology advances. 

Recently I've been working in acrylics which is a new medium for me but one I'm enjoying enormously.  I've been reflecting on some of my specimens and using them as subjects.
